Gradient Lip Tutorial

By 7:21 PM , , , ,

Hey guys! I'm going to show you my very first tutorial <3 It is going to be about how to achieve that ulzzang gradient lip everybody have been rocking~ This is requested by a friend of mine who is curious on this style of gradient lip. I've been using this style for a while now since it gives a nice touch to any look and looks very nice when cosplaying pretty shoujo characters.

Gradient lips for cosplaying different characters

-- STEP ONE --
It's best to keep your lips hydrated and plump before applying any products to it. I'm using Burt's Bees Pomegranate Lipbalm to mosturize my chappy lips. This particular lipbalm has pomegranate oil in it, which hydrates and revitalizes your lips with a hint of color for an even, beautifully toned appearance!

-- STEP TWO --

Apply generous amount of concealer on the lip, but rather focus on the outer corner of the lips and slowly blend away for a smoother gradient effect. Etude House's Lip Concealer does the job for me, though it was rather lighter than my skintone.

-- STEP THREE --
Line your lips with a lip liner and fill them in. This acts as a matte base for all your tints later on. I'm using Bobbi Brown's Lip Liner in Brownie Pink, as it matches my skintone best.

-- STEP FOUR --

Apply a coral cream liptint on the inner lips and blends outwards. For coral liptint, I have Shu Uemura's 6Princess Lip & Cheek Tint. It's very creamy, pigmented and suitable for this gradient look.

-- STEP FIVE --
Apply a thin line of blood red liptint on the inner lips and blend outwards with a clean lipstick brush. By using a lipstick brush, you have more control and can build up the gradient colors. If done correctly, the colors should gradient like blood-red >>> coral >>> brownie pink >>> nude.

-- STEP SIX --

Swipe a tiny amount of concealer onto your ring finger and dab it gently to the outer corner of the lips. This ensures the colors to look more vibrant and reapply on the corners that might've smudged through the process.

-- STEP SEVEN --
Apply generous amount of lipgloss for a sophisticated look. In this tutorial, I would love to have a matte look. Instead of using clear lipgloss, I applied enough lipbalm to hydrate my lips again.

Finished Result! <3

That's the end of this tutorial! 7 simple steps that even beginners can follow <3 Note to anyone attempting this, there will be times when the colors might not suit you but don't let it prevent you from finding the perfect shade of pink/coral/red for this gradient look! Everyone has different skintones and one color might not complement one another. It's totally okay!

Practice makes perfect and practice means more shopping, and more shopping means more collection! Yay for wide collection of makeup \m/ I hope you like this tutorial, sorry for making it picture-heavy but I hope you guys get this tutorial anywas. :")
